Despite being a multi-instrumentalist, Flipo has been playing the drums since the age of nine, and percussion is still an important component of their composition process.
They claimed to have “spent much of 2017 locked up in their bedroom creating and recording, having previously worked as a session drummer and backup vocalists in several Melbourne bands.
Flipo was the inaugural winner of the ARIA Emerging Artists Scholarship and was nominated for a J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year in November 2018.
Between 2020 and 2021, Flipo created and produced two sell-out collaborations with Crocs. Custom made ‘JibbitzTM charms that decorate each pair and were meant to depict tiny aspects of G Flip’s life’ were included in the shoe collections.
About You” was published by G Flip in February after he signed with Future Classic. A few months later, Flipo made their live debut at the SXSW music festival, where they received critical acclaim and climbed the charts.
