Has Madeleine McCann Been Found?
Madeleine McCann has never been discovered, and investigators suspect she was kidnapped from the family’s holiday accommodation in the Algarve resort.
Portuguese prosecutors have named a German guy as an official suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Christian Brueckner has been designated as an “arguido,” although the suspect’s identity has yet to be revealed by Portuguese authorities.
In the year 2020, German police revealed that they were looking into his involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.
Brueckner has not been charged in the case and denies any involvement.
At the request of Portuguese prosecutors in Faro, German officials informed him that he was a suspect.
Madeleine, a three-year-old girl, vanished in 2007 while on vacation with her family in Praia da Luz.
Madeleine has been missing for 15 years, and under Portuguese law, declaring someone a person of interest after that date is no longer feasible. Any criminal charges need the designation of someone as a person of interest.
The action, however, was prompted by “strong indications” of criminal activity, according to Portugal’s ministry of public prosecutors.
He is currently serving a seven-year sentence for raping a 72-year-old lady in Germany, where he was convicted of drug offenses.
Madeleine’s disappearance remains a missing person investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
For a long time, the Madeleine McCann case has been out of the news in Portugal, and practically all developments have come from the German prosecutor’s office in the previous few years.
This recent information has been extensively disseminated, though not always prominently or with sufficient depth.
However, almost everyone in Portugal is aware of the case, with many following the developments for months, if not years.
The civil lawsuit in which Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, sued the former head detective on the case, Gonçalo Amaral, after he wrote a book about it, was finally unsuccessful.
