Henny Vrienten was a Dutch musician best known as the singer and bassist of the popular 1980s ska-pop band Doe Maar. He also composed television and film scores.
Vrienten began his musical career as a member of the local band Les Crunches in the late 1960s. He began writing music for others in the early 1970s and published his debut single as Ruby Carmichael.
Vrienten released his first solo album, Paul Santos, in 1977. He joined Doe Maar, one of the most popular Dutch bands of all time, in 1980.
Vrienten performed with various musicians when Doe Maar dissolved in 1984, toured with The Magnificent 7 in theaters, and recorded a few solo recordings.
