Professional boxer Musa Yamak has tragically died at 38 after collapsing in the ring and suffering a heart attack. The Munich-based boxer turned pro in 2017 and most notably won the WB Fed International title in 2021 by stopping Siarhei Huliakevich.
He holds the title of the unbeaten light-heavyweight champion, remaining undefeated in 75 fights.
How did Musa Yamak Die?
On Friday, boxer Musa Yamak secured the WBF light heavyweight title with a technical knockout. A day later, his next fight at a boxing event in Garching, ended tragically.
In what was the headliner of a small show in Garching, Germany, the unbeaten Turkish-born German fighter faced Hamza Wandera, a Ugandan boxing veteran in his ninth professional bout on Saturday. It was indeed a fierce fight as these two professionals fisted each other to prove who was good at what they do. Unfortunately, Yamak retired at the end of the second round.
However, Yamak the light-heavyweight tried to come out for the third, but suddenly fell down and was unconscious. Paramedics stationed at the boxing arena were unsuccessful at reviving him, leading to the game being canceled.
Yamak was rushed to a hospital in Munich but was pronounced dead in the hospital after being diagnosed with having suffered a heart attack.
When Did Musah Yamak Die?
It is unclear whether the delayed rescue measures were responsible for Yamak’s sad death or as the Munich police believe, that the hard blow to his head could have caused his death.
However, medical officers at the Munich Hospital have ruled that he died of a heart attack. Musa Askan Yamak died in the later hours of Sunday, 15th May 2022.
His passing is the second recorded in the ring this year after Armenian-born Russian boxer Arrest Sahakyan passed in January.
