Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE was born on 6 September 1972 and works as an actor, producer, and musician in the United Kingdom.
He is best recognized for his roles as Stringer Bell in HBO’s The Wire, DCI John Luther in BBC One’s Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013).
