Jerick Deshun McKinnon (born May 3, 1992) is an American football running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Minnesota Vikings chose him in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Georgia Southern. He also played for the 49ers.
McKinnon played football and ran track at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia. He was a quarterback, runner, and wide receiver. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution named him All-State quarterback.
The Georgia Sports Writers Association recognized him as first-team all-state and Region VII AAAA Player of the Year. He started his final three seasons and lettered four times for the Yellow Jackets.
He was a wide receiver on the team that won the area title and was named MVP in the National Underclassmen Ultimate 100. In 2009, he was named Cobb County Touchdown Club Quarterback of the Year after passing for 1500 yards and rushing for 1,300.
McKinnon lettered twice for the Yellow Jackets track & field team, competing in the 100-meter dash (winning the Region VII-AAAA title in 11.04 seconds as a junior), 200-meter dash (eighth in Region VII-AAAA in 22.61 seconds), and long jump (personal-best leap of 21’8″ or 6.63 meters). He ran 4.46 in the 40-yard dash and 42.33 in the 4 x 100 m relay as a senior.
McKinnon committed to Georgia Southern on February 3, 2010. He selected the Eagles over Air Force and Navy scholarships.
