Jah Cure, aka Siccaturie Alcock, is known today as “The High Priest of Reggae.” Music has echoed through his small form since he was three years old, quietly hypnotizing the souls of those who listen to his worldwide healing voice.
According to reports, Jah Cure was arrested and charged with robbery, gun possession, and rape. According to Last.FM was sentenced to fifteen years in prison in April 1999.
Jah Cure was relocated to a prison with a recording studio, which allowed him to continue working on his music.
There, he published a number of songs and three albums, including his debut, Free Jah’s Cure. In 2000, the album The Truth was released.
After eight years in jail, Jah Cure was released on parole in July 2007. He released his fourth album, True Reflections, a few days later.
According to Reuters, he managed to top the local charts with a series of tunes he recorded while incarcerated, making him an enormously bigger star than he was before he went to prison.
His most recent album, The Cure, was released in 2015 and got him a Grammy award for Best Reggae Album in 2016.
Iyah Cure Productions is Cure’s current label. He married Kamila McDonald, a television host and producer, in 2011. In 2012, the couple welcomed their first child, a girl.
