Jay Groome is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Jay was born to Father, Jay Groome, and Mother, Dannielle Groome of Barnegat Township, New Jersey. Growing up, Gromme had his high school education at Barnegat High School in Barnegat Township, New Jersey, and was considered a top prospect in the 2016 MLB draft, where he was the 12th overall selection.
He made the school’s varsity ball club as a first-year recruit, and as a sophomore, had a 6-2 win-misfortune record and 0.57 acquired run normal (ERA) in 61+1⁄3 innings threw for the school’s ball club.
He moved to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, before his lesser year, and resolved to go to Vanderbilt University on a school baseball grant.
Groome pitched to a 5-0 record and a 1.22 ERA with 81 strikeouts and nine strolls in 43 innings as a lesser.
Because of feeling a yearning to go home, Groome picked to get back to Barnegat for his senior year.
