The death of Josephine Tewson, who played BRIT comedy actor Josephine Tewson, was reported this afternoon by her agent.
The actress who was most famous for her part in Keeping Up Appearances passed away at the age of 91.
Tewson enjoyed success on both the stage and the small screen during her career.
Despite this, her breakout performance as the long-suffering neighbor of Hyacinth Bucket, Elizabeth “Liz” Warden, propelled her to the top of the British television ratings and made her a household figure in the country.
Throughout the course of the five series, she appeared in the vast majority of the episodes.
The actress appeared in a variety of other comedies and quickly became a fan favorite in each one of them.
She appeared as Edna Hawkins in Shelley and performed the role of Miss Davenport in Last of the Summer Wine.
Tewson was also a regular performer in sketches on David Frost on Sunday and Hark at Barker that featured Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker.
Additionally, she was a guest on the comedy show Mostly Monkhouse with David Jason, which airs on BBC Radio.
She worked with Ronnie Barker once more in 1988, this time as Jane Travers on his sitcom Clarence.
