June Brown was an English actress celebrated for her role as Dot Cotton within the BBC serial EastEnders from 1985 forwards.
Brown was born on 16th February 1927, in Needham Market in the United Kingdom, the daughter of Louisa Ann (née Butler) and Henry William Melton Brown.
June Brown attended St John’s Church of England school, in Ipswich, and then won a scholarship to Ipswich High School where she passed the school certificate examinations.
At 23, Brown met and wedded entertainer John Garley; he experienced melancholy and took his own life in 1957.
In 1958, she wedded Robert Arnold. Brown and Arnold had six children in seven years, one of whom died at an early age
The couple married for 45 years until he passed on in 2003 of Lewy body dementia. From that point forward she has resided alone in their home in Surrey.
She is an ally of the Conservative Party, and told a questioner for The Guardian: “I wouldn’t vote Labor, dear if you paid me. I vote Conservative.”

June Brown had four adult siblings: Marise Brown, Rosemary Brown, Lois Brown, and John Brown. June Brown lost her big sister, Marise Brown when she was just eight years ago, three years after the death of her brother John Peter.
The loss of her beloved Marise over 80 years ago still affected her in her final years. Marise died of mastoiditis, an ear infection, and nothing could be done to save her life.
Rosemary Brown died in the year 2000.
