Kay Mellor was a famous British actress. She also was a scriptwriter and a director. Kay created some popular TV shows such as ITV British drama called Fat Friends and she also co-created CITV’s British children’s drama Children’s Ward.
She was born on May 11, 1951, in Leeds in the United Kingdom and died at the age of 71 on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Yorkshire in England.

Kay was raised in England and at the age of 16, she got pregnant to Anthony Mellor, who was also 17 years then. They decided to get married and had two daughters. Their first child, television producer Yvonne Francis was born in 1968. She is currently a TV producer and the second born is popular actress Gaynor Faye who was born in 1971.
When Kay finally gave birth to her kids, she went back to school and passed her O-levels and A-levels. She then enrolled at Bretton Hall College where she graduated with a BA Hons degree in 1983.
In the 1980s, Kay started working for Granada Television where she wrote for the soap opera Coronation Street. She also wrote many episodes for the Channel 4 soap Brookside around that same period.
In 1988, Kay wrote for the anthology drama series dubbed Dramarama before co-creating the long-running children’s drama Children’s Ward with her Coronation Street colleague Paul Abbott.
