Bill Kahan Kapri, best known by his stage as Kodak Black, was born Dieuson Octave on June 11, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida, and is an American rapper.
His debut single, “No Flockin,” which was released in 2014, was the song that first brought him to public attention. Painting Pictures (2017), his debut studio album, reached number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and featured the Billboard Hot 100 top ten single “Tunnel Vision” as a lead single.
His second studio album, Dying to Live (2018), reached number one on the Billboard 200 and was supported by the single “Zeze,” which featured Travis Scott and Offset and peaked at number two on the Hot 100.
Kodak Black is the son of Marcelene Octave, a Haitian immigrant who came to the United States. Later, he obtained legal recognition under the name Bill Kahan Kapri. Originally from Pompano Beach, Kodak Black was brought up by his mother in Golden Acres, a public housing development in the city.
In elementary school, Kodak Black began rapping and recording music at a nearby trap house. Reading thesaurus and dictionaries helped him to expand his vocabulary as a child. With his companions, Kodak Black was a frequent participant in fights and break-ins.
