David Khari Webber Chappelle, professionally called Dave Chappelle is known to be a stand-up comedian and actor popular for his satirical comedy sketch series on the Chappelle’s Show. He was born on August 24, 1973, in Washington, D.C., the USA. On Tuesday, May 4th 2022, he was attacked on stage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
A little about his life. Dave grew up in Maryland where he attended Woodlin Elementary School in Maryland. During his high school days, he worked as an usher in Ford’s Theatre. He studied theatre Arts at Washington’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He graduated in 1991.
Dave has also starred in several movies including Robin Hood: Men in Tights in 1993, Undercover Brother in 2002 and A Star Is Born in 2018 just to mention a few. He had his first lead role in the comedy film Half Baked in 1998. In 2016, Dave signed a $20-million-per-release comedy-special deal with Netflix.
Dave has earned five Emmy Awards and three Grammy Awards. He received his first Emmy award in 2017 for his guest appearance on Saturday Night Live and in 2018, he received a Grammy Award for his Netflix-produced comedy album, The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas.
