Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki, a Kenyan politician, was the country’s third president from December 2002 until April 2013. In 1992 and 1997, he ran for president but lost both times.
He also served in the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi regimes as a cabinet minister, notably as Finance Minister. On November 15, 1931, Mwai Kibaki was born in Gatuyaini village,
Othaya division of the Nyeri District in Kenya. Italian missionaries baptized him, Emilio Stanley, as a child after he was raised in an agricultural family. Between 1947 through 1950, he attended Mang’u High School, where he received the best possible O Level grade.
Kibaki played golf and was a member of the Muthaiga Golf Club, which he founded in Nairobi. On Sundays at noon, he went to Consolata Shrines Catholic Church in Nairobi, where he was a practising and devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.
For specialist therapy, Kibaki was flown to South Africa on August 21, 2016. Uhuru Kenyatta stated on April 22, 2022, that Mr Kibaki died on Thursday, April 21, 2022. He died at the age of 90.

The funeral has yet to be scheduled. With full military honours and ceremonies, Mr Kenyatta said the late President will be buried in Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi.
