Former No. 1 in the world in doubles, professional tennis player Nikola Mektic is from Croatia. He won the men’s doubles title in the 2021 Wimbledon Championships with his countryman Mate Pavi, and the mixed doubles title at the 2020 Australian Open alongside Barbora Krejková.
Mektic and Alexander Peya were eligible to compete at the 2018 ATP Finals in London 2018. In the same year that Mektic won the Davis Cup while representing Croatia, he had his first Grand Slam finals appearance (in mixed doubles) in the 2018 US Open with Alicja Rosolska.
He also achieved three Masters 1000 victories in Madrid (2018), Indian Wells (2019), and Monte Carlo (2019) with three different partners (2019). Mektic and Pavic won their third title for the year and twenty overall in the 2022 Queen’s Club Championships. At the 2022 Eastbourne International, the duo successfully defended their title.
