Nikola Mektic is a Croatian professional tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in doubles.
His victories in the 2021 Wimbledon Championships in men’s doubles with fellow countryman Mate Pavi and the 2020 Australian Open in mixed doubles with Barbora Krejková make him a two-time Grand Slam champion. He won the 2021 Wimbledon Championships in men’s doubles with Mate Pavi.
In the men’s doubles competition at the 2020 US Open, Mektic and Wesley Koolhof finished in second place. In the mixed doubles competition at the 2018 US Open, Mektic and Alicja Rosolska finished in second place.
In October of 2021, he climbed to the top of the men’s doubles world rankings, being only the second Croatian to ever accomplish so.
On the ATP Tour, Mektic has won a total of 16 doubles titles, including a combined six victories at the Masters 1000 level with four different partners. In addition, he and Koolhof took first place at the 2020 ATP Finals.
In May of 2013, he achieved his best singles ranking of world No. 213, which he accomplished. Mektic was a member of the Croatian team that triumphed in the 2018 Davis Cup, and the two of them went on to claim the men’s doubles gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games.
