Paul Ginsborg was a British-born Italian historian. He was a professor at the University of Siena in the 1980s. Born on July 18 July 1945 in Middlesex, London, Gingsborg died today, May 11, 2022, in Italy.
He was 76 at the time of his death. Ginsborg comes from a Jewish ancestry and was often discriminated against during the Holocaust.
Aside from being known for playing influential roles in the field of Academia, Ginsborg was one of the key people who led the ‘Girontondi’ (Ring Of Roses) which was a movement in 2002 against unfair treatment and transparency in public life.
They protested against the then Justice reforms of the government which were implemented by ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi.
Paul was very popular among Italian scholars about issues of contemporary Italy. He was well known for his articles, books, and journals which were mostly about History, and Social and Political sciences. His books were used in Academia. He last lectured at the University of Florence shortly before he died.
