Peng Liyuan is a Chinese soprano and modern folk singer. She was born on November 20, 1962. Her spouse is Xi Jinping, the People’s Republic of China’s President and current General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.

Peng became well-known as a singer as a result of her frequent appearances on the popular Chinese television program CCTV New Year’s Gala, which is broadcast throughout the Chinese New Year.

She has performed in musicals as a soloist. She won China’s top theatrical honor, the Plum Blossom Award, in 1986 for her leading part in The White Haired Girl. Between 2012 and 2017, she served as president of the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art, and from 2005 to 2010, she served as vice president of the All-China Youth Federation.

Where is Peng Liyuan Now?

Yuncheng County, in the province of Shandong, is where Peng Liyuan was born. She is Chinese and when she was 18 years old, she enlisted in the People’s Liberation Army as an ordinary soldier.

Peng’s singing prowess eventually allowed her to perform on the front lines to bolster army morale during the border disputes between China and Vietnam.

In 1982, when she performed On the Plains of Hope at the CCTV New Year’s Gala, she made her debut on the national stage and shot to popularity. In 1987, Peng got married to her husband Xi Jinping. Like many Chinese couples in the 1980s, Xi and Peng met through friends.

Since then, Xi and Peng have generally led separate lives, with Peng residing primarily in Beijing and her husband initially residing in Fujian and then Zhejiang.
