Rafael Nadal is a Spanish professional tennis player, currently ranked world No. 4 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
He also won a gold medal in the men’s singles at the Beijing Olympics that year. It was in the final of the US Open in 2010 when Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic and became the youngest Open Era player to capture a career Grand Slam, and the first player to win three majors on three different surfaces in one year (Surface Slam).
He is one of just two men in history to win the Career Golden Slam in singles, the other being Roger Federer. Nadal is the only male player in tennis history to have won an Olympic gold medal in both singles and doubles, making him the first player to achieve the Career Grand Slam.
Nadal’s dominance at the French Open dates back to 2010 when he won four straight titles. He has since added three more US Open crowns and one additional Australian Open crown.
A record-breaking five-time champion at the Australian Open in 2022, he joined Djokovic and Federer as the only men in history to win all four major singles titles.
