Tampa Bay Rays are Miami Marlins biggest Rivals.
Rivalries Of Miami Marlins
In Major League Baseball, the rivalry between the Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays is known as the Citrus Series. Both the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays first appeared in the National League in 1993 and 1998, respectively. During the Rays’ debut season in 1998, the two teams met for the first time at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Between 1993 and 2007, the Rays and Marlins had four winning seasons and four seasons with 100 or more losses or more combined. In 1997 and 2003, the Marlins won two World Series championships but the ensuing fire sales overshadowed the team’s accomplishment on the field.
Because the Rays and Marlins would face each other every season, the Citrus Series didn’t have any bearing on that fact The Marlins dominated the first decade of the Citrus Series, going 34-22 versus the Rays, including a combined 9-0 in 2003 and 2005 against them.
A significant reversal of fortune has taken place since the year 2008. There are presently 68-58 in favor of Tampa Bay in the all-time series versus the Marlins, with an 11-2 advantage since the start of 2019.
A fantastic example of this was in 2018 when the Marlins were poised to sweep the Rays at Tropicana Field in late July, but utility infielder Daniel Robertson had a plan.
