Rod Marsh was an Australian professional cricketer who played as a wicketkeeper for the Australian national team.
He was born on 4 November 1947 and passed on 4 March 2022, at the age of 74.
Marsh had a Test career spreading over from 1970-71 to the 1983-84 Australian seasons. In 96 Tests, he set a worldwide best of 355 wicketkeeping excusals, a similar number his speed bowling Western Australian partner Dennis Lillee achieved with the ball.
The pair were known for their bowler-wicketkeeper organization, which yielded 95 Test wickets, a record for any such mix.
They made their Test debuts in a similar series and resigned from Test cricket in a similar match. Wisden expressed that “Couple of associations among bowler and wicket-guardian an affect the game.”
Swamp had a questionable beginning to his Test profession, chosen by virtue of his batting capacities.
Sections of the media lampooned Marsh’s glovework, dubbing him “Iron Gloves” after sloppy catching in his debut Test.
Rod Marsh Cause of Death
Rod Marsh’s cause of death was due to a heart attack. Marsh was flown from Bundaberg to Royal Adelaide Hospital earlier this week after suffering a major heart attack last Thursday.
He remained in an induced coma until his passing.
