Stephen Thomas Ridings (born August 14, 1995) is a pitcher for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his Major League Baseball debut in 2021.
Ridings attended Haverford College and played baseball after graduating from St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, New York.
He was drafted in the eighth round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs. On March 9, 2019, the Cubs traded him to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Donnie Dewees. The Royals released Ridings in November 2020.
Ridings signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees prior to the 2021 season. On July 21, he threw a no-hitter with Luis Gil and Reggie McClain for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Ridings made his major league debut on August 3, 2021, striking out three batters while allowing only one hit. The game was started by Luis Gil, who was followed by Brody Koerner.
Three pitchers made their debuts in the same game for the first time in Yankees history on September 26, 1950.
Ridings had a 1.80 ERA in five starts with the big league club before being sent down to Triple-A Scranton on August 17. The Yankees added Ridings to their 40-man roster after the 2021 season.
