Stephen Kevin Bannon, a former investment banker, media executive, and political strategist, served as the White House’s chief strategist for the first seven months of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Bannon served seven years as an officer in the US Navy. He spent two years as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs following his time in the military. He became interim leadership of the Biosphere 2 research project in 1993. Between 1991 and 2016, he produced 18 movies as an executive producer in Hollywood.
Bannon and three other people were detained in August 2020 and charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit mail fraud in relation to the We Build the Wall campaign. While reportedly saying that all donations would go toward the construction of a wall, the defendants allegedly increased their own wealth. Bannon entered a not guilty plea and received a pardon from Trump before to his trial.
After Bannon advocated the execution of FBI Director Christopher Wray and the government’s infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci in November 2020, his Twitter account was shut down permanently.
