Wander Franco is a professional baseball shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team of the Major League Baseball (MLB). The MLB player was born March 1, 2001, in Bani, Dominican Republic.

Wander signed with the Rays on July 2, 2017. In 2018, he made his professional debut with the Princeton Rays baseball team. When Wander was 17 years old, he was named the 2018 Appalachian League Player of the Year.

He was privileged to have his contract renewed to eleven years with the Tampa Bay Rays in November 2021. This new contract comes with an amount of  $182 million and a club option of $25 million for a twelfth year.



Wander made history when his contract was renewed by becoming the youngest player in baseball history to sign a contract worth at least $100 million. His deal was the largest any player has ever received with less than one year of MLB service.

Wander Franco has a son called Wander Samuel Franco Jr., who was born in 2018. There is no information concerning the mother of his son yet.
