Alex Okafor (born February 8, 1991) is an American football defensive end who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He was born in Chicago, Illinois (NFL).
Originally from Arizona, he was selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He went on to play collegiate football at Texas, where he was named to the All-American team as a junior.
Okafor’s parents, a Nigerian father, and an African-American mother met while working in Dallas, Texas.
His parents met while attending college at Grambling State University, which is a historically black institution of higher learning, before settling in Texas. During his high school years in Pflugerville, Texas, Okafor was a member of the Pflugerville Panthers high school football team, who won the state championship.
Along with soccer and basketball, he was an all-star in all three of those sports. In 2008, during his senior season, he was named to the USA Today All-American high school football team.
