She has also appeared as Nurse Sydney Somers in multiple episodes of Holby City. In 2017, she starred in rising Of The Footsoldier 3 and had a brief role in Jamie Bell’s Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool.

After disclosing that she had been rushed to hospital after having “excruciating aches” across her body, former Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten took to Instagram to give her fans an update on her condition.

The 37-year-old actress has revealed that she has been diagnosed with a “rare” ailment that can cause kidney failure and even death, admitting that it’s “a little much” to hear.

The star heartbreakingly revealed that she’s been diagnosed with a “rare and severe” case of a syndrome, which she’s still taking in.

Gemma wrote: “Long story short and I’ll explain more when I am ready and fully fit, but I was diagnosed with milk-alkali syndrome which in rare and severe cases (like mine) leads to kidney failure or worse, death. “Yep. All a bit much,” she admitted.
