Quintorris Lopez “Julio” Jones was born in Foley, Alabama, on February 8, 1989. Queen Marvin, a single mother, gave birth to him.
Jones’ father abandoned him when he was just five years old, thus his mother raised him and his brother. Jones’s mother was well-known for having a difficult time raising both of her children in their rough area.
Jones played wide receiver and defensive end for the Lions football team at Foley High School in Foley, Alabama.
Jones swiftly rose to prominence during his high school career. He has 75 receptions for 1,306 yards and 16 touchdowns in his junior season.
Because he was always open, he earned the nickname “Waffle House.” In May 2007, he ran a 4.55-second 40-yard sprint at the Baton Rouge Nike camp, where he also set an event record with a vertical jump of 38.6 inches (980 mm).
Jones was a standout track athlete in addition to being a starter on the basketball team. In both 2006 and 2007, he won the state titles in the long jump (24–2 or 7.40m) and triple jump.
In the 2006–07 season, he was voted Alabama’s Gatorade T&F Athlete of the Year. During the 2007 indoor season, he won the state high jump championship (6–6 or 1.98m).
In 2005, 2006, and 2007, he was selected an All-County player. In 2007, he was crowned Mr. Alabama Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
