Justin Bieber has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which causes partial facial paralysis and can result in lifelong hearing loss if left untreated.
“As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I cant smile with this side of my face, this nostril will not move, so there is full paralysis in this side of my face,” Justin said in a video he uploaded on his Instagram account on Friday.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox and shingles. The virus is thought to infect the facial nerve near the inner ear in persons who have this disease. The nerve becomes irritated and swells as a result of this.
Adults are the ones who are most affected. It’s only observed in children in a few situations. Due to the obvious facial paralysis induced by Ramsay Hunt syndrome, closing your eyelid may be challenging. The cornea, which protects your eye, may be damaged as a result. Eye pain and poor vision can result from this damage.
Justin has thus encouraged his fans to not panic stating “it’s going to go back to normal”. The 28-year-old was scheduled to continue his seven-leg, 130-date tour this week, but it has been canceled owing to a non-Covid-related sickness that he claims is getting worse
