Lee Michael Zeldin is a well-known American lawyer, politician, and officer in the United States Army Reserve. His parents are Merrill Schwartz and David Zeldin. He was raised in Suffolk County, New York, and went to William Floyd High School there. He received his diploma in 1998. He also attended Hebrew school.

Zeldin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from SUNY University at Albany in 2001. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in May 2003. In 2004, he was admitted to the New York State Bar. In 2007, Zeldin began working as an attorney for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Zeldin gave Donald Trump his unwavering support while he was in office. He strongly supported Trump in relation to the Trump-Ukraine scandal during the first impeachment proceedings. After Trump lost the 2020 presidential election and falsely claimed that there was voter fraud, Zeldin voted against the certification of Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s electoral votes.

In April of 2022, Zeldin announced his desire to run for governor of New York. He is the nominee of both the Republican Party and the Conservative Party after winning the Republican gubernatorial primary over three challengers.
