Joely Rodrguez Sánchez is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. He was born on November 14, 1991, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (MLB).
He previously played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers, as well as in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Chunichi Dragons.
In March 2009, Rodriguez agreed to a $55,000 signing bonus with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Over 47 innings in the DSL, he was 2–5 with a 4.60 earned run average.
For the 2010 season, he pitched for two different minor league teams, the GCL Pirates and the State College Spikes, finishing 2–2 with a 4.21 ERA in 51 13 innings.
He returned to State College for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. With the West Virginia Power and Bradenton Marauders, he has a 9–8 record and a 2.70 earned run average over 140 innings in 2013.
On November 20, 2013, he was added to the team’s 40-man roster. With the Altoona Curve in 2014, he has a 6-11 record with a 4.84 ERA in 134 innings.
Rodriguez and Joey Gallo were traded to the Yankees on July 29, 2021, in exchange for Josh Smith, Glen Otto, Trevor Hauver, and Ezequiel Duran. In 21 appearances for the Yankees, he had a 1-0 record and a 2.84 ERA.
The Yankees did not exercise their $3 million 2022 option on him but instead signed him to a $2 million contract after the 2021 season.
