What Team is Wandy Peralta on?
Wandy Peralta is with the New York Yankees.
As part of the Mike Tauchman deal in April, the Yankees acquired Peralta from the San Francisco Giants and had high expectations for the southpaw.
It’s safe to believe that this team didn’t envision Peralta closing out games as a high-leverage reliever this late in the season, despite Mike Harkey’s assurances at the time.
In the absence of Darren O’Day, Aroldis Chapman, and a number of other vital pitchers, Peralta has been pitching late in games this month, even securing his first save in a Yankees uniform during an extra-innings thriller in Kansas City last week. In the month of April, he made two more saves.
According to Boone, “We couldn’t believe it when we got him.” In the first half of the season, “we saw these sparks and now he’s done a nice job of really stringing the consistency aspect together and he’s been crucial for us.”
Having Peralta in the bullpen can be essential for Boone and this coaching staff as the season progresses. When he’s paired with Jonathan Loaisiga, Chad Green, Zack Britton, and others like Lucas Luetge, the New York Yankees’ bullpen is one of the finest in the league.
