Hollywood’s A-listers and contenders are rehearsing speeches, honing their red carpet sound bites, and getting their gowns, tuxes, and jewelry ready for Sunday’s Oscars, which many are hoping would be a return to more normalcy.
The film academy, on the other hand, has thrown a spanner in the works this year by requesting that attendees arrive an hour early for the big night.
A place that almost invented “fashionably late” is no little thing in New York City.
Short-film and below-the-line awards will be presented an hour before the live Oscar telecast begins, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stirred up controversy last month by announcing that clips from the presentations would be edited later into the broadcast in order to trim time from the often-bloated show.
As a result, the cameras won’t begin streaming live from inside the Dolby Theatre until 5 pm, but the awards will begin being handed out at 4 pm.
Adding to the logistical difficulties is the fact that ABC’s red carpet preshow is planned to run from 3:30 to 5.
What time is Oscar’s red Carpet 2022?
An hour and a half before the show, ABC will begin its red carpet coverage at 4:30 p.m. PT / 6:30 p.m. ET.
In order to ensure that all of the nominees are treated equally, the Academy has requested that attendees attending the Oscars be inside the Dolby Theatre by 4 p.m.
