Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is a Nigerian reality competition television series based on the Big Brother television franchise.
Contestants compete to avoid being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favorite housemates to stay on the show in order to win a sizable cash prize and other material prizes at the end of the show.
From 5 March to 4 June 2006, the first season of the program debuted on M-Net and DStv Channel 37. The Alexander-Forbes auditing firm confirmed the election results.
From 5 March to 4 June 2006, DStv Channel 37 broadcast the show’s debut season. On Day 23, two new players were added to the game, much to the delight of the surviving roommates.
Ebuka, who had been the most well-liked housemate for a few weeks and was generally expected to win the competition, was the seventh housemate to leave; many viewers attribute his eviction to the Joe’s Fan Club (JFC). Joe was promptly booted off the show.
On Day 79, Big Brother added another twist to the game by canceling the day’s scheduled nominations and giving the housemates the impression that their eviction would be based on how well they performed on their tasks, when in fact there were no more evictions and viewers started voting for the winner, who was 26-year-old Katung Aduwak.

The seventh season of Big Brother Naija will premiere on Saturday, July 23, at 19:00 Western African Time (WAT) on the Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, and Africa Magic Family channels. Additionally, it will be shown on the always-on channels 198 and 29 of DStv and GOtv, respectively.
