When is Calvin Ridley Coming Back
On or after February 15, 2023, Ridley will be eligible to file a petition for reinstatement. After missing most of the season to focus on his mental health, Ridley’s future in Atlanta was already in doubt.
Ridley is not expected to return in 2022, according to the team.
On Monday, the NFL announced that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games during the 2021 season.
If Ridley is cleared to return, his contract will toll throughout his suspension, keeping him under contract in Atlanta until 2023. In 2022, the ban will cost the Falcons $11.116 million in salary cap space.
If he does not successfully appeal his suspension, he will be ineligible to ask for NFL reinstatement until at least Feb. 15, 2023.
As a result of his indefinite suspension, Ridley’s contract will be extended for one season, putting him under contract with the Falcons until at least 2023.
That is unless Atlanta decides to release Ridley in the aftermath of the scandal.
Ridley has established himself as one of the NFL’s top up-and-coming pass catchers before his unexpected departure in 2021.
In each of his first two seasons, the Alabama product surpassed 800 receiving yards, then exploded in 2020 with 90 catches for 1,347 yards and nine touchdowns, earning him All-Pro accolades.
