Where is Deivi Garcia Now?
Deivi Garcia is with the New York Yankees. He is still on the Yankee’s active roster.
The Yankees paid Garcia a $200,000 signing bonus when he signed with the team in July 2015. His throwing arm strength convinced the Yankees to make him a pitcher rather than an outfielder or an infielder.
For the Charleston RiverDogs and Tampa Tarpons of the Class A South Atlantic League in 2018, Garcia threw for both. The Trenton Thunder of the Class AA Eastern League gave him his final start of the year.
Trenton promoted Garcia after he made four appearances for Tampa in 2019. All-Star Futures Game selection came in July. It wasn’t long afterward that he was promoted to the Class AAA International League Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of Scranton.
The Yankees added Garcia to their 40-man roster following the 2019 season in order to keep him out of the Rule 5 draft. In 2019, Garcia was named the Yankees organization’s minor league pitcher of the year.
To begin the 2020 season, the Yankees assigned Garcia to their secondary training facility. For the Yankees, he made his major league debut on August 30. No runs were allowed and no walks were issued in his six innings of work; he struck out six batters while throwing 75 pitches.
His record was 3–2 with a 4.98 ERA in six starts during the 2020 season and he was the opener for Game 2 of the American League Division Series in that season. Only lasted one and a half innings before he was replaced by J. A. Happ for a pinch-hitter.
