Robyn Rihanna Fenty, born on February 20, 1988, to Ronald Fenty and Monica Braithwaite in St. Michael Parish of Barbados. Her father was a warehouse supervisor and her mother an accountant. She is the first of her mother’s three children. Rihanna as she is popularly known grew up in Bridgetown, a town in Barbados.
Rihanna when growing, schooled at Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and ‘The Combermere School’. Her school was her place of ‘hideout’ because she no longer had to suffer from her father’s substance abuse or parent’s marital problems there. Whiles at school she channeled her energy into music by forming a music group with two friends of hers.
At age 15, Rihanna got discovered by Evan Rogers; an American record producer in Barbados when he paid the country a visit. Evan then invited Rihanna’s music group to come and audition at his hotel residence in Barbados where she rose above her peers immediately earning her the opportunity of a second interview and demo recordings.
Rihanna’s Life in America
Rihanna was then invited to the USA by Rogers solely on work basis and due to the concentration she had to give her music career in order to be successful, she had to forfeit her education. Although, she wanted to become a high school graduate, that didn’t materialize because the music took her all.
‘Pon de Replay’ her “contract-signing song” was one that helped launch her into the limelight. When ‘Pon de Replay’ was released, it had her name Rihanna as the artist name and has since stuck. Rihanna went on to release more hit singles and albums which has won her so many awards.

Rihanna, although popularly known for her singing prowess has featured in some movies such as Bring it On: All or Nothing, Home, Ocean’s 8 and many more. She has also ventured into the world of fashion and many more.
Currently, Rihanna although a high school dropout is the ambassador of education in Barbados. and holds the title of “The Right Excellent’ from the Government of Barbados.
