Which College And High School Did Corey Matthaei Attend?
Much is not known about Corey’s high school but he attended Willamette University and had his Bachelor of Arts in 2007.
Matthaei was a member of the offensive line at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, before beginning his professional football career (2003-06). Following graduation, he returned to his old institution to work as an offensive assistant for one season.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Matthaei spent three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he worked as an assistant to the head coach under Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid from 2010 to 2012.
He had previously spent two seasons with the Eagles as a coaching assistant before joining the Chiefs (2008-09). In 2006-07, he worked as a training camp assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles’ football operations.
When the Chiefs won 11 games in 2013 after a 2-14 season, Matthaei was a key member of the offensive team that helped the team achieve the greatest single-season turnaround in franchise history.
Matthaei has helped QB Alex Smith to a 65.1 completion percentage, which ranks first among all Chiefs quarterbacks with at least 700 passing attempts, since his arrival in Kansas City in 2013.
Since joining the organization in 2013, Smith has had five straight seasons of passing for 3,000 yards under Matthaei’s supervision. After the 2017 season, Smith became the franchise’s all-time highest rusher among quarterbacks (1,672 yards).
