Dave Merritt is an American football coach for the Kansas City Chiefs for the National Football League who serves as defensive backs coach.
He is also a former linebacker who served as the defensive backs coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).
Before becoming a professional coach, Merritt played college football. In 1993, he played for the Miami Dolphins. Within that same year, he went ahead to for the Phoenix Cardinals up until 1995. He lastly played college football at the Rhein fire in 1997.
His as a coach started in Tennessee-Chattanooga in 1997.
He served as the outside linebackers coach for a year. He then moved to Virginia Military Institute where he coached for two years as a defensive ends coach in the first year and then as a defensive line coach in the second year.
