The former Australian cricketer who died in a vehicle accident this morning is survived by two children, Billy, and Chloe Symonds.

Symonds, who represented Australia in 238 international matches from 1998 to 2009, was killed in a vehicle accident in Townsville this morning. Symonds, who was driving alone at the time of the accident, died on the scene.

Symonds is being remembered for being an unabashed performer on a cricket field, with heartfelt comments coming in from all across the world. Apart from his hard-hitting ability with the bat, Symonds was also known for his duel bowling abilities on the cricket field.

Symonds, 46, is survived by his wife Laura and children Billy and Chloe. Symonds married Laura in 2012, 12 months after the birth of their son Billy, in his second marriage. Chloe Symonds, Symonds’ daughter, was born in 2013.

“We’re still in shock — I’m just thinking about the two kids,” Laura Symonds told The Courier-Mail this morning. “He was such a large person, and his children have so much of him in them.”

“He was the most relaxed person.” Nothing bothered him. He was a really relaxed operator. So functional. He was never particularly good on the phone, but he always made time for everyone.”

Readers should be aware that Laura and both children went from Sydney to Townsville after learning of Symonds’ death.
