Even though the Tigers’ roster will be stronger going into the 2022 season, their coaching staff will remain mostly unchanged from the year before. That didn’t stop them from getting their coaching staff ready for the season, though. While Hinch was not anticipated to be sacked, the Tigers were able to secure a long-term agreement with the coaching staff.
Manager A.J. Hinch recently stated that he and the Tigers will keep the coaching staff in the same roles for next season, one of the little-noticed news items from last month’s adjustments.
The first-base coach was left unfilled by manager A.J. Hinch at the end of the season. In addition to Kimera Bartee, Hinch indicated he was interested in interviewing other prospects.
Hinch’s staff had to undergo a midseason shakeup when coach Jose Cruz Jr. and third base coach Chip Hale left for college head coaching positions at Rice University and the University of Arizona, respectively. Hinch was able to replace both positions with players from the Tigers’ own farm system.
After serving as the first base coach with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bartee had recently joined the organization as a baserunning coach for the Toledo Mud Hens.
