The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a Florida-based professional American football team. The Buccaneers are a member of the NFL’s National Football Conference South division and compete in the National Football League.
The franchise joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1976, along with the Seattle Seahawks, and competed in the American Football Conference West division for the first season.
Tampa Bay swapped conferences and divisions with Seattle prior to the 1977 season, becoming a member of the NFC Central division. The Buccaneers joined three former NFC West teams to establish the NFC South after the league realigned prior to the 2002 season. The Glazer family owns the team, which plays its home games at Raymond James Stadium.
