Who Is Brett Kavanaugh?
Brett Kavanaugh is an American lawyer and jurist serving as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. On July 9, 2018, President Trump nominated him and he has been serving since October 6, 2018.
After serving in several federal government positions, he was elected to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
He was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Yale University, where he studied history. He subsequently went on to Yale Law School, where he worked as a law clerk for Judge Ken Starr before starting his own practice.
During Starr’s tenure as head of the Office of Independent Counsel, Kavanaugh worked with him on several investigations into the Clinton administration, including the Starr Report, which called for the impeachment of Clinton.
Having worked for George W. Bush’s presidential campaign in the Florida recount during the year 2000, he then joined the Bush administration as White House staff secretary, where he played a key role in identifying and confirming Bush’s judicial nominations.
Why Is Brett Kavanaugh Popular?
Despite credible and compelling claims of sexual assault, the Senate confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court on October 6, 2018, by a vote of 50-48.
It came after Kavanaugh put out conspiracy theories during his confirmation hearings, echoing his long career in conservative politics.
Because lower court judges lack the legal ability to reprimand Supreme Court justices, more than 80 severe ethics accusations against him were dismissed.
