Who Is Dave Chappelle?
Before we go into Dave Chappelle’s father, let’s ask first, who Is Dave Chappelle himself in the first place?
Dave Chappelle is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He had a show co-written with Neal Brennan which was running smoothly until Dave Chapelle quite to show in mid-production of the third season.
After leaving the show, Dave Chappelle went on a stand-up comedy tour in America. He starred in about 10 films and did a lot more stand-up comedies. He signed a deal with Netflix which would earn him $20M pre-release and release 6 standup commercials under the deal.
Enough of Dave, let’s look at his father, William David Chappelle III.
Who is William David Chappelle III?
Born on December 16, 1938, William David Chappelle III was an American professor of Music and a civil rights organizer in Ohio. He was the Dean of Students at Antioch College where he also lectured.
William David Chappelle III graduated from Antioch College with a Bachelor of Music and went on to serve in the United States Army for 4 years.
Chappelle moved to Ohio where he worked with Yellow Springs becoming a faculty member in the co-op department. He became a professor at the university lecturing on Music.
William David Chappelle III was a co-founder of the advocacy organization H.U.M.A.N which meant Help Us Make A Nation. He was also the founder of the African American Cross-Cultural works.
He was married to Yvonne Seon. He had one child with his wife which is Dave Chappelle the comedian.
William David Chappelle III won an award from ‘Walter F. Foundation’, from Antioch College Alumni Association for his contributions to breaking down racial and ethnic barriers.’
William David Chappelle III died in August 1998 in Yellow Springs.
