He is the first head football coach to win a college football national title and a Super Bowl, with the Miami Hurricanes and the Dallas Cowboys, respectively.

Johnson’s first head football coaching job was at Oklahoma State before joining Miami as the Hurricanes’ head coach in 1984 and leading the club to the 1988 Orange Bowl triumph.

Johnson succeeded original Cowboys head coach Tom Landry in 1989 as a result of his collegiate success, a role in which he helped bring the club back to winning form.

Johnson’s career, which spanned 1989 to 1993, concluded in the Cowboys winning consecutive Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl XXVII and Super Bowl XXVIII, but he was fired following the second triumph due to a feud with owner Jerry Jones.

Following a two-year hiatus from football, Johnson returned in 1996 to take over as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, a position he held until 1999.

Johnson has worked as a Fox Sports analyst and is one of the major pundits on Fox NFL Sunday since his retirement as a coach.
