Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut, was born on March 9, 1934, and died on March 27, 1968. He was the first human to journey into space. On April 12, 1961, Gagarin completed one orbit of the Earth in the Vostok 1 capsule.

After reaching this crucial milestone in the Space Race, he became an international celebrity, obtaining multiple medals and titles, including Hero of the Soviet Union, his country’s highest honour. Gagarin grew up in the Russian village of Klushino, where he worked as a foundryman in a steel mill in Lyubertsy.

Meet Yelena Yurievna Gagarina

Yelena Yurievna Gagarina was two years and two days old when her father lifted off from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and she was only ten years old when he perished. She is now the head of the Kremlin’s State Museum, where she oversees imperial robes, royal vehicles, and Fabergé eggs.

Gagarina earned her bachelor’s degree in history from MSU and specializes in art history. Since March 16, 2005, she has served on the Russian Federation’s UNESCO Commission. She joined a collective appeal of Russian Federation cultural figures in support of President Vladimir Putin’s policy in Ukraine and Crimea in 2014.

Galina Yurievna Gagarina, the second daughter, was 36 days old when her father flew. Galina Yuryevna Gagarina is a Russian economist, professor, and economics doctoral candidate. Galina’s father is Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, a prominent Soviet cosmonaut. Galina Yurievna Gagarina was born in Moscow on March 7, 1961. Yuri Gagarin.

Galina studied at the Moscow Institute of National Economy after completing her secondary education. In 1982, she received her bachelor’s degree from the institution. Galina Yuryevna began graduate school in 1985 and continued her studies at the same institute.

She successfully defended her PhD thesis in the same year. Galina Yuryevna Gagarina successfully defended her PhD dissertation in 2014.
