Alejandro Kirk, a Mexican professional baseball catcher with the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball, was born on November 6, 1998, in Tijuana, Mexico. (MLB).
Kirk began playing baseball at the age of three and grew to be a major fan of Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals as an adult. His Little League team was coached by his father. His brothers are Juan Manuel Jr., his older brother, and Andres, his younger brother.
At a showcase put on by the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League, Dean Decillis, a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, observed Kirk. He was signed by the team on September 24, 2016, and received a $7,500 signing bonus, with the Toros receiving $22,500 in return for his release.
In 2017, he made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League’s Rookie-level Blue Jays, participating in one game. He spent the whole 2018 season with the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays, batting.354 with 10 home runs and 57 runs batted in (RBI) across 58 games.
Kirk also walked more batters than he struck out, with 33 and 21 respectively at the end of the season. To begin the 2019 season, he was promoted to the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts, then to the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays, where he concluded the year.
Kirk batted.290 in 92 games, with seven home runs, 44 RBI, and 56 walks against 39 strikeouts. The Blue Jays invited Kirk to spring training on February 7, 2020.
