The paid subscription service Amazon Prime was launched on February 2, 2005. It is accessible in many different countries and allows users access to extra services that would otherwise be either expensive or unavailable to other Amazon customers. It was recorded in April 2021 that Prime had over 200 million worldwide subscribers.
Amazon launched its first Prime Day on July 15, 2015, to mark the website’s 20th birthday. Amazon first advertised that it would include “more deals than Black Friday” and the event is defined by a multitude of specials and promotions that are only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.
On “Prime Day” which was July 13, 2016, Amazon Prime said that buyers placed 60% more requests globally. A concert event featuring Ariana Grande that was webcast on Twitch and Amazon Video before the 2018 version. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Becky G, and SZA performed at the 2019 concert, which took place on July 10 before Prime Day began on July 15 and was exclusively streamed for Prime users.
