Danny Jansen is an American baseball player who was born on April 15, 1995, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Steve and Kathy Jansen have a younger son named Danny. Matthew is his older brother. Jansen’s family used to host players from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The Jansen family took in Adam Jones in 2004.
Jansen was picked by the Blue Jays in the 16th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft after attending Appleton West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. He had signed with the Blue Jays instead of Jacksonville University, where he had pledged to play college baseball.
For the season, he was assigned to the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays, where he played 36 games and hit.246 with 18 runs batted in (RBI). That season, he had above-average plate discipline, walking 21 times and striking out only 10 times. Jansen was promoted to the Bluefield Blue Jays’ Rookie Advanced team in 2014. He hit.282 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 38 games.
