Jeffrey Scott Springs is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays in the United States. He formerly played for the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball.
Springs went to Belmont, North Carolina’s South Point High School. He studied management at Appalachian State University and played college baseball for the Mountaineers for four years (2012–2015).
Springs was selected in the 30th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers, who offered him a $1,000 signing bonus.
Immediately after signing, Springs played for the Spokane Indians and Hickory Crawdads in a season-long split. His record was 2–2 in 31 innings, with a 2.61 earned run average.
After starting the season with the Hickory Crawdads and going 1-1 with a 1.16 ERA in 18 games, he was promoted to the High Desert Mavericks and struggled to a 2.2-2 record with a 5.36 ERA in 13 games (nine starts).
For the Down East Wood Ducks, Springs had a disappointing 2017 season, going 2–8 with an earned run average of 3.69 and 146 strikeouts in 112+13 innings pitched across 31 games (17 starts).
