Joshua Earl Taylor is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in the United States. He throws and bats left-handed and is listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 225 pounds.
Taylor was a graduate of Peoria’s Centennial High School. He attended Arizona Community College and Georgia College & State University, where he played college baseball.
Taylor was acquired by the Boston Red Sox in May 2018 as a player to be named later in a trade for Deven Marrero.
He was playing for the Class A Advanced Visalia Rawhide at the time, but the Red Sox assigned him to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, and he was promoted to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox in September.
Taylor pitched in 48 games in 2018, all in relief, with a 3.35 ERA with a 3–7 record and 13 saves.
Following the 2018 season, Taylor was added to the Red Sox’s 40-man roster. With Triple-A Pawtucket, he began the 2019 season.
He was promoted to the main leagues for the first time on May 29 and made his debut against the Cleveland Indians that same day.
Taylor was recalled on June 14 after being optioned back to Pawtucket on June 10. Taylor pitched in 52 games (one start) with the Red Sox in 2019, going 2–2 with a 3.04 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 47 innings.
